Additionally, it discusses stakeholder engagement and financial tools for implementing sustainable tourism practices. Finally, it provides case studies from various Mediterranean regions, analyzing their applicability and transferability.

The handbook is a joint and collaborative document built on best practices and lessons learned from pilot areas, engaging multiple stakeholders and providing decision-making tools, such as Ecosystem-Based Decision Support Systems (DSS). The implementation aligns with European and Mediterranean environmental policies, ensuring regulatory coherence, while emphasizing transferability and adaptation to different regional contexts. This structured approach supports strategic, policy-driven, and practical sustainable tourism development, including ecotourism packages in European countries (Albania, Croatia, Greece, France, Italy, Spain) and the southern Mediterranean (Lebanon and Tunisia).
Replicability conditions
The replicability of the handbook's practices depends on a strong governance framework, multi-stakeholder cooperation, and financial sustainability through diverse funding sources. Successful adaptation requires maintaining reliable data collection for monitoring.
